Essay Planners
Organization of an argumentative essay:
Introduction:
- Hook: 2-3 sentences
- Background
- Arguments (at least one sentence for each)
- Claim in the last sentence
- 2 or more depending on assignment
- three or more pieces of evidence (quotes, facts, examples, anecdotes, reasons, or statistics)
- Begin with a transition word/phrase that indicates this is your conclusion
- Come back to your claim
- Briefly mention all supporting arguments and how they relate to your claim
- A closing thought that makes a deeper connection or ties all of your arguments together
