One of my goals as a teacher is to have students understand how what we learn in class is connected to the larger world that we all live in. One way to do this is through reading and understanding current events.

What you need to do:
- Find an article that is related to the U.S. government, culture, politics, or the economy.
- Here are some good topics for Current Events::
- 2020 presidential election
- bills in the U.S. Congress
- Foreign affairs
- National security & the military
- Natural Resources – oil, energy, water etc.
- Trade & Economy
- Culture – such as new ideas, products, religion, beliefs
- Climate, Weather & Climate Change
- You may use articles from the Internet, newspapers, or magazines.
- Read the article.
- Complete and hand in the Current Events Summary Sheet.
Assignment Requirements
- The articles must be current, nothing older than 30 days from when you submit it.
- You may use an article about the United States, however: no articles about crime, sports, or popular culture! These topics are generally not considered Current Events.
- Use the suggested web sites below or other sources such as newspapers or magazines.
